Anonymous asked: Dear Twinkie Chan, what was the worst experience you have had with a customer? Either at a craft show, or online, or anywhere.
Hi! Hmm, while there can be a lot of annoying circumstances when you’re running a shop, nothing is SUPER bad after you let off some steam. I think the one thing that I really dislike, though, is when people at a craft show ask you how much something is, or look at your price tag, and then are very obvious about thinking it’s too expensive or not worth it. I can understand someone saying, “Oh, I could make that,” because I have those thoughts, too, but people shopping at craft shows should be aware that the maker of these items is sitting right in front of you, so being polite should be a fairly reasonable request, I think. One time at Renegade Austin, a man looked at my ice cream scoop hair clips and said to his friend, “A lot of work went into this!” He wasn’t talking to me, but I could hear him, and I loved him! I think a lot of shoppers are not aware of how long a handmade piece might take to make, or how much love went into creating something special.
lavendermoonlite asked: Hi! Have you ever thought about doing online classes? I would totally pay for that!
Hi! People have asked me this from time to time, but my thought is always that there are tons of basic online tutorials out there (my buddy CraftyMinx has a great, free, online crochet course), and anything I do would be pretty redundant! :P
